About me.

Javier Delabat is a Spanish photographer currently based in Madrid. The first time a camera was held between his hands, he was just three years old. Since that moment, photography slowly started to become his passion.

Growing up in Spain, he would have never imagined being exposed to a life in the cold and the unique elements of a landscape near the arctic circle. While he was studying his bachelor’s studies, he arrived in Sweden in 2014, experiencing falling snows, glaciers and Auroras for the very first time in his life. Shortly after graduating, he realised this was the environment he wanted to live in.

Therefore, he decided to move to a tiny village called Bugøynes in Northern Norway. Here he guided small groups of tourists to chase the northern lights and not long after, he got the opportunity to live in Iceland, where he started to do photo workshops and Aurora hunting tours.

By travelling many times to places like Lofoten Islands, Senja, Faroe or Northern Sweden, for instance, he has specialised in arctic landscape photography, outdoors and wilderness and he likes to capture the obscure and dark scenes where light is found in forms of sun rays through the black clouds or Auroras.

In his work, he focuses on creating a natural feel between the photography and the viewer while incorporating a personal interpretation that highly emphasises mood, composition, and lightning.
