About me.

Hello! I am Javier Delabat, a Spanish photographer currently based in Gran Canaria. The first time I held a camera in my hands, I was only three years old. Since then, photography has slowly grown into my greatest passion.

Growing up in Spain, I never imagined living among the cold and the unique landscapes of the Arctic Circle. While studying for my bachelor’s degree, I arrived in Sweden in 2014, where I experienced snowfall, glaciers, and the northern lights for the first time. After graduating, I realised this was the environment where I truly wanted to live.

I later moved to a small village called Bugøynes in Northern Norway, guiding small groups of travellers in search of the northern lights. Not long after, I had the opportunity to live in Iceland, where I began leading photo workshops and northern lights tours.

By travelling many times to places such as the Lofoten Islands, Senja, the Faroe Islands, or Northern Sweden, I have specialised in Arctic landscape photography, the outdoors, and wilderness. I like to capture the obscure and dark scenes where light is found in forms such as sun rays piercing through black clouds or auroras dancing in the night sky.

After many journeys to places such as the Lofoten Islands, Senja, the Faroe Islands and Northern Sweden, I began to focus on Arctic landscapes, the outdoors and wilderness photography.

My work focus on the contrast between the duality light and darkness, to the silence and solitude of remote places, and to the beauty that appears when light breaks through the shadows.

Through my photographs I try to create an honest connection with the viewer. What matters to me is the feeling behind the image, the mood of the moment and the way light gives meaning to everything around us.
